airBaltic announced layoffs of 700 employees on October 5, 2026. The Latvian flag carrier put 500 to 700 jobs on the line across its three Baltic bases under a Chapter 11 restructuring plan. The fleet shrinks from 54 aircraft to 36 by the end of 2026.
