Gloat, an HR tech company that helps enterprises manage internal talent mobility, is cutting 20% of its own workforce. The irony is unavoidable: a company whose product helps other companies redeploy workers instead of firing them is itself firing workers.
At 35 people affected out of roughly 100, this is a small cut in absolute terms. But the reason is telling: customers are not renewing, and the company is pivoting to AI agents. The HR tech sector has been hit hard as companies cut the very HR teams that would purchase these tools.
