Leidos sent layoff notices to 305 employees in June 2026, first reported by Washington Technology on July 13. The cuts target indirect roles, positions that do not charge time to government customers, and come with severance and outplacement support. The company says several dozen of the 305 are being placed into direct billable roles, so the final layoff count will land below the notice total. Leidos employs about 47,000 people, putting the notices at roughly 0.65% of the workforce.
The cuts fit the wider squeeze on government contractors since the Department of Government Efficiency began pushing agencies to trim spending. Booz Allen Hamilton cut about 2,500 people, 7% of its staff, in 2025 under the same pressure.
