Magic Leap announced layoffs of 193 employees on July 20, 2026. Cutting 193 roles at its Plantation, Florida headquarters effective October 1 as it walks away from first-party AR headsets to supply waveguides and optics to other manufacturers. The WARN notice spans software, hardware, UX and design, product management, manufacturing engineering and several senior engineering and executive roles, with the optics team kept. Magic Leap has not disclosed headcount, so the workforce share is approximate.
