Stelco (Cleveland-Cliffs) announced layoffs of 350 employees on September 28, 2026. Stelco is idling finishing operations at Hamilton Works and concentrating steel production at Lake Erie. Cleveland-Cliffs put the total at up to 500 across both plants and pointed to US steel tariffs.
