TikTok has cut roughly 625 jobs across two separate rounds in 2026. The rounds hit different entities and different countries, so they are tracked separately below.
TikTok's new U.S. joint venture is shutting its Nashville office on October 5 and cutting about 250 jobs. The office ran to roughly 145,000 square feet on Music Row, and the lease was signed only about two years earlier. The site housed members of the content moderation team. TikTok described the move as streamlining operations to align teams for long-term growth, and did not cite cost or AI. Against TikTok's U.S. workforce of roughly 7,000, the cut is about 3.6%.
The joint venture is TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC, announced January 22, 2026. ByteDance holds a 19.9% minority stake. Oracle, Silver Lake, and Abu Dhabi's MGX each hold about 15%, with existing ByteDance investors holding roughly 30.1%. The structure was built to satisfy the U.S. divest-or-ban law, and content moderation sits among the functions it was set up to govern.
